Meet Tracey - 'Boss Lady' since Day 1

How long you have been working for Dream Days?

My husband and I took on the unit in Birdcage walk, Dudley in November 2001. Doing all the work ourselves, fitting out the shop, my husband worked late into the night for 3 whole months so that we could open the store in January 2002 and we have not looked back since, 22 years later and we are still going strong.

Past bridal work?

Before opening Dream Days I worked at a Bridal shop in West Bromwich called Stitches, after 8 years there learning and loving the bridal trade I decided to open a Once Worn Bridal Collection working from home, however this soon outgrew the space we had so moved to Linthouse Lane in Wednesfield. We were there for just 18 months before again outgrowing our premises so did our research and saw that Dudley was not yet covered with a bridal outlet. The unit on Birdcage Walk was perfect, so not really knowing what to expect, we dove right in.

What do you like about the job?

I love my dream team Vicki and Kirsty and myself, work so hard alongside each other, the girls support me every step of the way and together we make Dream Days the best it can be. I have learnt so much about business and myself over the years and I know that having the right people in your team is so important. I love all the customers, so many of whom recommend us and support our social media posts with a like or a share and pop up in comments too, we have return customers from families and friends and we even have some of our Prom girls come back for their bridal gowns which is such an honour and a privilege to be thought so much of. For those of you that don’t know, I also do all the alterations here at Dream Days and nothing gets past my eagle eye when it comes to the perfect fit, turning a wedding dress or outfit into a perfectly fitted gown for my customers gives me the most satisfaction of all.

Why do you do it?

Because I simply love everything Bridal, every customer is different and we get to know them quite well. Nothing makes me happier than hearing how happy my customers are with our products and services, knowing that we have done a good job makes all the hard work worthwhile.

Favourite kind of bride?

I love all brides but my favourite are the nervous brides because I know within a few minutes of entering Dream Days and putting on their first dress their nerves just flutter away and you can see that their inner confidence starts to shine.

Favourite dress?

All of the dresses at Dream Days are chosen by us with our brides in mind so my favourite dress is the one that you finally say “YES” to as I know that it’s perfect for you.

Meet Vicki - since April 2019

How long you have been working for Dream Days?

Since April 2019

Past bridal work?

I haven’t worked in bridal before, I always worked as a medical secretary for the NHS but after having children it just didn’t fit in anymore. It was just a bit of a gamble but I got the job and I never ever looked back.

What do you like about the job?

The brides and the happiness it brings them. To be part of their special day is incredible. Choosing your dress is such a big part of the preparation and planning of their day. To see their face once they have found THE DRESS is unreal, I usually start crying with them. I also love getting to know all of the brides and their families and listening to all of their stories. It’s such an honour.

Why do you do it?

Why not? Who doesn’t want to look at beautiful dresses all day, and make women feel absolutely incredible? I love going to our bridal suite, it just makes me so happy! This is like the dream job from being a little girl for most people and I am the one lucky enough to do it, as well as have amazing work colleagues who I couldn’t be without. We all have an amazing time and it’s a pleasure to come to work. There is never a dull moment!

Favourite kind of bride?

My favourite kind of bride is one that doesn’t know what she wants to wear – so we get to try more dresses for her! And if she wants sparkle I get super excited!

Favourite dress?

Anything with glitter in it! Like I LOVE it so much, I even want to renew my vows just so I can wear a glittery dress!

Meet Kirsty - since February 2022

How long you have been working for Dream Days?

Since the beginning of 2022

Past bridal work?

I’ve worked in bridal my whole life! I started out when I was 14 years old in a local bridal boutique and have never looked at anything else, it just really suited me and I loved learning more and more so did my studies around fashion, business and bridal to continue the dream!

What do you like about the job?

It’s such as happy place to work! The people certainly make up a big part of that – they trust you to help them with such a big decision and it’s a privilege every day to work alongside the most beautiful brides and staff!

Why do you do it?

I really enjoy helping and guiding customers to styles and designs that really compliment them and allow them to feel confident and as beautiful as they should! Seeing a brides confidence grow during an appointment makes my heart warm and I love it when they find the best, most confident versions of themselves. #Empowerment!

Favourite kind of bride?

Open minded and trusting is the best way to be! We all try our hardest to make you look and feel amazing and want your experience to be as full, easy, and as stress-free as possible. That’s what we’re here for!

Favourite dress?

My favourite dress changes weekly! But is currently a fabulous A-line that is fully laced and beaded on the bodice, with cap sleeves and an all plain chiffon skirt!
