Katie's 30th Birthday was one to remember when after four and a half years Mark finally proposed on the London Eye

On a weekend away in London celebrating Katie's 30th Birthday, a trip on the London eye turned into a surprise wedding proposal. Katie said "yes" and the wedding took shape from there. Here's Katie's story....

How did you meet?

I first knew Marks sister from work and after she added me on Facebook, Mark sent me a friend request which I accepted. After chatting on line for a few months we went on our first date on 29th December 2010 and we have been together ever since. Mark asked me to marry him in July of 2015, of course I said "yes", and we wasted no time in planning our big day.

How long were you planning?

Almost 2 years in total. We knew that we wanted a local church wedding and after looking at a few venues and setting a date we chose St Chads Catholic Church in Sedgley with our reception at the Staffordshire Golf course, Wombourne. It was all so easy, Ken at the Staffordshire gold course was brilliant, he put us in touch with one of his preferred vendors and together we discussed a colour scheme, sorted our meal and also the buffet for the evening. It was all so easy.

We chose a Cornflower blue with lemon colour scheme and Floral Arts, Pensnett supplied us with gorgeous lemon posies for the girls and ruby red roses with lemon ribbon for myself all complemented with matching colours for the button holes and corsages. My dream dress was from Dream Days in Dudley and the men's suits were from TDR Menswear Halesowen. The weather was perfect and I arrived in style on perfect time with the help on Crème de la Crème Cars.

The ceremony was perfection. My father gave me away and it was was everything that I dreamt our wedding day would be.

What were the highlights of your day?

There were quite a few but the one that will stand out forever is the look in my husbands face when he saw me for the first time and hearing him say how beautiful I looked as I got to him.

After the ceremony at our reception we managed to steal ourselves away for a few minutes and were treated to a golf buggy ride, which was so much fun.

We also had a very memorable first dance when we were joined by members of our family, singing along to Bohemian Rhapsody and playing air guitar, absolutely loved how we all came together, singing and hugging it was so natural and a very special moment indeed.

After the wedding we spent 10 days at the gorgeous Gloria Palace Hotel and Spa in Gran Canaria. It was the perfet honeymoon getaway for a new Mr and Mrs.

Do you have any advice for other brides?

Savour every moment of the day and ensure you have a little time for you and your husband to just take it all in, it really is over in the blink of an eye. Also listen to the experts, they do know what they are doing as we found out by ordering far too much food for the evening.

Is there anyone that you would like to thank?

Everyone that made the day possible really especially both sets of parents who helped us both plan and pay for our special day, also our bridesmaids and Best Man, who were amazing and did us both proud during the planning and the day itself. Thank you ❤
